Your Site Has No Targeted Content
A single "Services" page that lists remapping, DPF deletes, and EGR solutions all together won't rank well for any of them. Google needs dedicated pages for each service. If you want to rank for "stage 1 remap Derby", you need a page specifically about stage 1 remaps in Derby — not a generic services page that mentions everything.
The same applies to locations. One page saying "we cover the Midlands" won't compete with a competitor who has individual pages for each city they serve.
Technical Problems Are Holding You Back
Check these common technical issues:
- Slow loading speed — run your site through Google PageSpeed Insights. If your score is below 50 on mobile, that's a serious problem. Read our guide on why website speed matters
- No SSL certificate — if your URL shows HTTP instead of HTTPS, Google penalises you and Chrome shows a "Not Secure" warning
- Not mobile-friendly — Google uses mobile-first indexing. If your site is hard to use on a phone, you'll rank lower
- Broken pages or redirect chains — check Google Search Console for crawl errors and fix them
You Have No Backlinks
Backlinks — other websites linking to yours — are a major ranking factor. A brand new site with zero backlinks will struggle to rank against established competitors. Your Google Business Profile Is Incomplete
If your GBP is half-filled or has the wrong category, you're sabotaging your local rankings. Make sure every field is complete, your photos are current, and you're actively collecting reviews.
